Here are the long-awaited flicks from the collaborative art show between Maxx242
and Nomad at Nomad in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the crew and I didn’t make it out there but had full-intentions on making it. Our good friends over at The Bad Character provided the images above.
Featured at the show were over 70 pieces from both artists. There were also limited edition prints available as well. I was also told that there was an open bar which Patron sponsored, so from what I hear, overall it was a great show! Other sponsors included The Wild Ones, CONART®, and a ton of other great companies. This is the one show this year that I can say I really, really, really regret not making it to. Oh well…
Some of you might remember the CONART® x The Wild Ones collaborative t-shirt that I Sneaky-Peeky Chronicled a little bit back. The design is a sick collaborative piece between Maxx242 and Xpres. I am not going to post the image again, you’ll have to go and look for it or be bit more of a regular reader! Hah!

You may have seen my boy $CAR’s Event Coverage of Estevan Oriol’s book signing at SURU a week back here, but our friends over at Known Gallery have posted their flicks as well. The images are provided above. I still need to drop by The Last Laugh to pick-up my signed copy!
The book is sick and is available at any major bookstore chain. Go out and get it!

Today JO$E and I attended the Estevan Oriol L.A. Woman book signing at SURU. The event had a great turn out and saw a lot familiar faces. Estevan’s book was put out on display with a gallery of some of his past/present work. Some never before seen pictures were also put up on display. If you haven’t yet picked up the book I highly recommend you do so, the book is dope and full of images.

The FMS Decade party was held on Tuesday, 12.8.2009 which celebrated the 10th year anniversary of FMS and marked the date of the release of Snoop Dogg’s 10th album titled “Malice N Wonderland”. The homie Jae Bueno was at the scene covering the event. Here are some pictures he took at the event. The party featured a showcase of classic cars, art gallery, and performances by Travis Barker, Snoop Dogg, DJ-Quik, Kurupt, The Game, and more.

This years FMS warehouse sale had a great turn out. People started lining up at 1PM from the day before the actual sale date. People lined up outside with tents and circled around self made fire pits. The sale featured many different activities throughout the day such as giveaways, live paintings by Maxx242 and Direone, stunt bike shows, music by DJ-Marshall Barnes and Power-106. The warehouse was fully stoked up with t-shirts, pants, accessories, hats, backpacks, and much more. Overall the event was a good time and we got to see a lot of familiar faces and even some new ones. If you did not get a change to make it this year do yourself a favor and go to the next one!

I was browsing around through some images of this last Magic in Las Vegas and I came across this 3-sided canvas. Jose and Maxx242 busted an Expensive Taste piece which was 1 of 3 sides the boys and I sat and watched the most. The crew and I only stayed 2 of the 3 days at Magic and we weren’t there as Maxxer started to get down. We only saw the first 2 days while Jose ‘Direone’but all of the pieces came out great. The direct otherside to the Expensive Taste piece had OG Abel doing his thing which had a focal point focusing on DJ – AM resting in peace. Magic is pretty tiring and it was nice to sit around and see a bunch of my favorite graffiti-artists/artists getting down!

I really wish that I was able to make the Deftones benefit show for Chi Cheng. Chi was involved in a very bad car accident over a year ago and has been in a coma ever since. The shows were held on Thursday, 11.19.2009 and Friday, 11,20,2009 at The Avalon. Artists who performed with the original band included Robert Trujillo, most recently of Metallica who most-likely ripped-it up on the bass and probably played note for note perfectly and Dave Lombardo of Slayer who definitely tore that shit-up.

A ton of great bands, rappers, groups, families, and also a good number of those who you wouldn’t have thought even knew Chi donated a lot of great stuff with all benefits going towards the expenses for his recovery. The auctions for Chi are specifically being held Chariy Buzz.

Here is the event coveage from Black Book Session #6. Unfortunately this show was scheduled on the same day as Maxx242’s collaborative show with Xpres this last Saturday, 11.21.2009 at 6PM while the latest Black Book Session #6 started at 1PM and ended at 6PM. The Black Book Session #6 was held at The Garage Boardshop in East L.A. Again, I personally didn’t get to make it out to either and am kicking myself because I missed 2 awesome shows and would’ve been able to hit both!
Black Book Sessions are a non-profit organization committed to empowering and inspiring young, talented minds. The organization is dedicated to helping kids and teens develop their artistic skills and build their confidence. Another objective of theirs is to support and acknowledge young urban artists to reach their highest potential in their lives and communities.
Much like their other formats for the previous Black Book Sessions, there were 3 age categories including 9-13, 14-17, and 18-25 and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes for each. The artwork accepted could have been any size and could be done under any medium including painting, collage, or a total mix of any. The judges placed and awarded the prizes the same day and each entrant had until 2PM to turn in their work.
Sponsors included The Wild Ones, SGX Media, Art Supply Warehouse, and a few others.
